Note: the Gude site will be closed on 4/30/2018.  Re-opening will not happen for several years.

CASA’s home field is the Gude Drive Field and is available for flying electric powered aircraft and sailplanes.  The Gude Drive Field is located near 600 East Gude Drive, Rockville, MD 20850. It is on a closed Montgomery County landfill and was formerly used by the DCRC club.  There are portions of the old paved runway left and a gazebo for shade.  There is a lock at the site and members receive the combination.  Please lock the gate when you are last to leave and no waste disposal workers are on site.  Contact our POC for Gude with any question you may have.

CASA’s home slope plane flying site is located near Jefferson, MD on a working farm owned by the Wiles family. It is available for slope flying by CASA members and their guests at all times provided the animals are not at the top. This is a fine slope site and perhaps the only slope soaring within many miles so please be on your best behavior.  The best wind direction is from the NW +/- 25 degrees and a wind speed of at least 8 mph.  Contact our POC for Jefferson with any questions you may have or read more for directions and restrictions.

Under the kind permission of the Capitol Polo Club President, CASA may use the Polo Club’ s field.  The designated flying area is at the extreme Northeast corner of the property, between the “arena” (a fenced-in polo field) and the northern tree line.  Sailplanes and gentle flying electrics are welcome.  When in doubt err on the side of courtesy and contact our POC for Poolesville prior to flying.

Effective February 17, 2016 the Superintendent of the Manassas National Battlefield Park (MNBP) has granted CASA permission to fly radio controlled model gliders in the Brownsville Picnic Area on Groveton Road.  An agreement between CASA and the MNBP has been signed.  Contact the POC for Manassas with any questions.
